Soft Tissue Manipulation Techniques
Common conditions that respond well to soft tissue manipulation are: Hypertonic (too tight) and spastic muscles, hypotonic and weak muscles, and injuries to tendons, ligaments, and fascia. For more information, see below.
Dr. Harrison has studied many different approaches to soft tissue pathology. As an Applied Kinesiologist, he is well versed in spindle cell and golgi tendon techniques. Dr. Harrison also studied the work of Dr. James Cyriax, an orthopedic surgeon from the U.K. Dr. Cyriax developed a soft tissue technique that utilizes cross fiber manipulation of the muscles. Cross fiber technique has proven to be a very effective approach for a variety of muscle and soft tissue problems. In difficult cases, Dr. Harrison will combine the use of the laser and/or the percussor with soft tissue manipulation with excellent results.
